3D EQUIPMENT MODELS

The best practice is to create one or more void drawing files to generate Equipment Models. For small projects the same drawing file can be used for piping too.
When more than one designer is working in the same project, a convenient division of work is achieved using separate dwg files.

EPLANT-Piping automatically support XREF files.

EPLANT-Piping assumes that the unit of length is the millimeter, because the dimensional tables are loaded with that unit.

PARAMETRIC DEFINITION

There are several predefined types defined. Each type can have different preloaded models and dimensions (used mainly for Pumps). To create new Parametric Types look into the Technical Manual.

Parametric Equipments Definition: Pump, Horizontal Vessel, Heat Exchanger (5min 16sec)

DEFINE FROM SCRATCH

If a parametric definition is not available a new Equipment can be defined from scratch using a combination of CAD elements or (better) EPLANT Equipment Elements. Piping components created with EPLANT can also be used as part of an equipment, but these components will not be computed as such.

Define an Equipment from Scratch (2min 54sec)

MODIFY EQUIPMENT ELEMENTS

Once an equipment is generated, its elements can be modified any time with the command:

Modify an Equipment Element (38sec)

ADD / DELETE EQUIPMENT ELEMENTS

New elements can always be added to existing equipments. They can be either EPLANT Elements (better) or any AutoCAD element. To Delete an element simply use the AutoCAD ERASE command.

Add / Delete Equipment Elements (1min 55sec)

MODIFY EQUIPMENT NAME

Modify the Equipment Name (59sec)

NOZZLES GENERATION

Equipment Nozzle can be added any time:

Generate an Equipment Nozzle (1min 40sec)

NOZZLES MODIFICATION

Equipment Nozzle can be modified any time, copied in the same equipment or to be used in another equipment:

Copy and Modify an Equipment Nozzle (1min 29sec)

EQUIPMENT VISIBILITY

Each equipment is automatically assigned to a different layer (EE prefix). If you need to merge two or more drawing files containing equipments use the Include Command that will take care of equipment as well piping layer names in the imported file.

Control Equipment Visibility (1min 46sec)

EQUIPMENT UTILITIES: COPY / MOVE / ROTATE / DELETE / PURGE

Equipment Utilities (5min 42sec)

EQUIPMENT STATUS

Equipment Status (1min 18sec)
