SCOPE
This document contains training material for EPLANT-Piping Version 2024.0 Tutorial. It can be
used as Training curse and as quick reference.
Other available documentations are:

- User Manual. It is a reference
manual in pdf format, it contains the description of all available commands and the working procedures.
To be able to view it you need the Acrobat Viewer installed, which can be downloaded for
free from https://www.adobe.com.
- Technical Manual. It is manual for the EPLANT Administrator
or an expert user, it contains detailed reference documentation and information needed to
customize the system. It is in pdf format also.
- Help Buttons in every dialog box used by the application.
MATERIAL ORGANIZATION
The subdivision of the material in chapters follows the typical sequence in the
execution of activity in a project developed with EPLANT:
- PROJECT Shows how to define Project with
EPLANT-Piping, the basic settings and describes the Project used as an example for
this tutorial.
- PIPING SPECIFICATIONS Describes the Piping
class specification used in this example, the same class translated in EPLANT-Piping
format and the criteria used in its definition.
- EQUIPMENTS AND NOZZLES Shows how to
generate Equipments and Nozzles.
- PIPING LINES Describes how to create a new
line, how to draw its line route.
- 3D COMPONENTS Describes how to generate
3D components on piping lines.
- PLANE DRAWINGS Shows how to extract a
Piping Plan from a 3D model and how to complete it ready for issuing. Shows how to
place in the same drawing, different views with Paper Space.
- PIPING ISOMETRICS Describes how to
automatically generate piping isometrics from the 3D model. Shows how to set the most
important configuration parameters.
- MATERIAL REPORTS Describes how to
automatically generate Material Reports and Requisitions and how to configure them.
- EXTERNAL DATA Describes how to link
EPLANT-Piping generated Models with external files in any format.
- SCHEDULING Describes how graphically
visualize project Phases with respect to dates in 3D Models.
This tutorial has animations generated recording real working sessions. Each video is marked
with the following icon: clicking the link on the right, the video will be displayed in a new window:

Texts relative to system prompts in the AutoCAD command line are displayed in italic
typeface, for example:
Input point: @ 200, 0
@ 200, 0 is the operator input, in normal typeface.
In the selection index, in the left frame in the browse window, the most important
chapters are rendered in CAPITAL letters.
EXAMPLE DESCRIPTION
A simple example will be carried out. It includes two vessels, an horizontal one and a
vertical one, connected by an 8" and 6" piping line, with a derivation and a drain.
Although the example is elemental, it allows showing the generation of 3D models
and its corresponding documentation with EPLANT-Piping.
The plot plan of the equipments can be see below. The
A1 piping class will be used.
The install program generates the TEST project in the TEST directory nested in the
main system directory. This project contains the very same example, for your convenience.
EVALUATION VERSION
In case you are running the EPLANT-Piping Evaluation Version (without a License
EPLANT-Piping automatically switches to it) you will be able to do much of this example but with some
limitations.
